Aqara Smart Lock U100 Review Homekit Smart Lock

As a homeowner, I love my smart door lock. It is easy to open with a password or phone, so I don’t have to carry keys to the house. In addition, it automatically locks behind me, so I don’t have to worry about security. Well, I found a pretty impressive smart door lock for HomeKit users—the Aqara Smart Lock U100—and I’m reviewing it today.

The sleek and modern design of the U100 looks great on every door. It also offers many options to secure and unlock your front door, including fingerprint, touch screen keyboard, voice control, keys, or iPhone/Apple Watch.

And since it is designed for Apple HomeKit, it works with Siri and Apple Key. Would you like to know if the Aqara Smart Lock U100 is right for you? Check out my detailed review below!

Full Apple Home integration

As a smart lock for Apple users, the U100 is fully compatible with Apple Home. This means that I can unlock it with the Apple Home button by simply tapping on my iPhone or my Apple Watch. Incredibly, this input method works even when the battery of the devices is empty.

Yes, although I forgot to charge my Apple Watch the day before, I can still use it to open the door when I get home in the afternoon.

I can also share and manage inputs from the Apple Home app. It’s great if I want to let trusted people like my kids, their friends, or service staff in when I’m not at home.

Integrated fingerprint reader and keyboard

My favorite feature is the built-in fingerprint reader and keyboard. These have become quite common, but as someone who grew up with “Back to the Future,” I am amazed every time I use one.

The fingerprint reader of the Aqara Smart Lock U100 is very accurate with an accuracy rate of 98.6%. It can store up to 50 fingerprints, so you can give access to as many people around you as you need.

Remote Lock Status and Auto Lock

Have you ever gone on a trip and forgot whether you locked the door or not? It is a difficult situation that can prevent you from enjoying your vacation. But with this HomeKit smart lock, you will never have to worry about it again.

You see, with this HomeKit smart lock, you can check the status in the Aqara Home app. This will allow you to see if the door is open or closed, no matter where you are. Better yet, a built-in gyroscope allows the U100 to lock automatically after closing—which can be helpful if you forgot to lock the door.

Multiple input/locking options

The Smart Lock U100 is characterized by several lock-in/lock-out options. In addition to the fingerprint reader, it is also unlocked with remotely configurable passwords using the Aqara Home app, local one-time passwords, mechanical key, NFC card (not included), voice control, or iPhone/Apple Watch.

I like the flexibility that this offers. I can leave the house with only one device—or none at all—and still enter my house while keeping it safe. With this device, I no longer have to worry about locking/unlocking the door.
